COOKIE POLICY

WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Most websites use cookies, including this one which works on a platform provided by Wix.com.

A cookie is a small text file that a website sends to your computer or mobile device.

When you visit again, the cookie is sent back to the website. This helps to make your online life easier because websites are able to remember choices you made and work more efficiently for you.

Cookies are plain text files so they can’t run programs behind your back or infect your computer with a virus.  And they can’t scan your computer for personal information.

Cookies can be classified according to their type, duration and category:

Type:

  • First-party cookies: Cookies that Wix places on this site.

  • Third-party cookies: Cookies that are placed and used by third parties.

Duration:

  • Session (transient) cookies: These cookies are erased when site visitors close their browsers and are not used to collect information from their computers. They typically store information in the form of a session identification that does not personally identify the user.

  • Persistent (permanent or stored) cookies: These cookies are stored on a site visitor's hard drive until they expire (at a set expiration date) or until they are deleted. These cookies are used to collect identifying information about the user, such as web surfing behaviour or user preferences for a specific site.

Category:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: These are the cookies that let site visitors browse through the website. They are also necessary for security reasons.

  • Functional cookies: These cookies "remember" registered visitors/customers in order to improve their user experience.

HOW MIGHT WE USE COOKIES?

Currently, we (for the purposes of the Images of Scotland website) do not use cookies for any purpose other than those required and placed by Wix.com in order to make this website work in the best way for you during your visit.

Wix uses cookies for many important reasons, such as:

  • To provide a great experience for visitors and customers to websites.

  • To identify registered members (not applicable to Image of Scotland)

  • To monitor and analyze the performance, operation and effectiveness of Wix's platform.

  • To ensure the platform is secure and safe to use.

We may, in future, opt to use Google Analytics to count the number of visitors to the site and tell us things like which pages are most popular, how long visitors spend on a page and the average number of pages viewed.

This works through cookies, but they don’t tell us who you are or send us any personal information about you.

HOW TO MANAGE COOKIES

You can easily delete cookies stored on your computer or change your privacy settings at any time through your browser settings. There are links at the foot of this page through which you can find out more.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T ALLOW WEBSITES TO SEND ME COOKIES?

This website will still work and you will be able to browse my images as normal.

It does mean, though, that in future we won't be able to monitor how you use Images of Scotland and help us make it as enjoyable a visit as possible.

We may also add additional features in the future that do rely on cookies and you would not be able to benefit from them. We will update the information on this page when this applies.

Other websites that use cookies to provide many of their personalisation features will not work properly if you decline cookies.
